The top priority for Carl D. Outen, M.D.
, when it comes to his ophthalmology practice is to be compassionate and provide effective patient care. Ophthalmology was his career choice as early as elementary school. As a child, Carl Outen knew several fantastic eye doctors who wanted to help people with their vision, which led to him having the desire to do so as well. He graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.S. in Biology and also graduated from MCV/VCU with a degree in medicine. His ophthalmology residency was completed at MCV/VCU where he became the Chief Resident.
He also completed an internship in Internal Medicine from EVMS. Carl Outen is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Opthalmology and a member of the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Richmond, VA, has been his home since he was a young child. He enjoys hiking, traveling and gardening as well as Virginia history and architecture. Carl D. Outen loves serving his patients and meeting the wonderful people who live in central Virginia.
